OUR PURPOSE:
Formed in 1928, the Ben Ali Wrecking Crew has the vital responsibility of taking care of candidates during the Ceremonial. We construct, install, and operate the many clever devices that assist worthy candidates in their traditional journey across the “hot sands,” serving as the Potentate’s right hand throughout the initiation. The ingenuity, resourcefulness, and skill of the Wrecking Crew make us a valuable Unit of the Ben Ali Shrine.
We proudly support the Northern California Shriners Children’s Hospital and attend all Command Parades, where we are easily recognized by our bright red fire engines—a 1922 Model-T ladder truck topped with a giant fez, and a 1973 Crown pumper. In addition to our ceremonial and public service duties, the Wrecking Crew fosters fraternity through annual social events such as our annual Crab Feed and Ladies Night.
Our purpose is to uphold the mission of Ben Ali Shrine, support Shriners Children’s, and ensure that each candidate’s journey is meaningful, memorable, and filled with fun.
